Beth Custer

Beth Custer is a San Francisco composer and bandleader with over 50 recordings out with the bands The Beth Custer Ensemble, Eighty Mile Beach, Clarinet Thing, Trance Mission, and Club Foot Orchestra. She has composed for the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, Kronos Quartet, for the theatre productions of Campo Santo, San Diego Repertory, Magic Theatre and California Shakespeare; for the dance troupes AXIS, Joe Goode, Roco, and Flyaway; for the films of William Farley, Cathy Lee Crane, Melinda Stone, and Koohan Paik; for KQED and CBS/Film Roman, and has created four musicals with writer Octavio Solis. Custer received an 2017 Emmy Award for her score for the Mantis Shrimp episode of KQED’s Deep Look science series.
