Ron Miles Residencies, Master Classes, Clinics, Workshops, etc.
Ron Miles is an assistant professor of music and has taught at Metropolitan State College of Denver for 15 years. He is currently teaching private trumpet, large and small jazz ensembles, and jazz history. Ron's teaching approach centers on helping the student become a better ensemble player both as improviser and interpreter of the written page.
Miles says that in his classroom “we gain familiarity with the music by studying the various elements of a piece and by placing instruments in non-traditional roles. We make up stories and let the students get used to developing a story through words, then through music. And we encourage students to transcribe the works of others and their own improvisations.”
